An eccentric dowager runs a ramshackle boarding house with her ex-con maid and residents that include a retired major and a disgruntled etiquette teacher. Through a bizarre series of mishaps, the unlikely gang quickly turn into modern day Robin Hoods, stealing fur coats for charity, however, as a group they are not particularly experienced in such matters, which leads to hilarious disasters and comic adventures in crime.
