Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (2007) is the first installment in the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, directed by Hideaki Anno. A reimagining of the iconic 1995 anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, the film closely follows the original series' early episodes while updating the animation and adding new scenes.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the story follows 14-year-old Shinji Ikari, who is reluctantly recruited by the mysterious organization NERV to pilot the bio-mechanical Evangelion Unit-01 against monstrous beings known as Angels. As he struggles with self-doubt, his relationship with his cold and distant father, Gendo Ikari, and the enigmatic pilot Rei Ayanami, Shinji is drawn into a larger, more terrifying reality.
