In this loose adaptation of Shakespeare's "King Lear," land baron John Lear (Patrick Stewart) decides to divide his estate among his three daughters, with the caveat that each will prove her affection for him. Susannah (Marcia Gay Harden) and Rebecca (Lauren Holly) comply, but his youngest child, Claudia (Julie Cox), refuses to shower her father with false love and is disinherited. When Lear's ranch comes under threat from unscrupulous sources, he wishes he had acted differently.
