British agents Peter Garnett (Hugh Williams) and Red Gowan (Roland Culver) join Free French soldier Raoul de Carnot (James Mason) traveling to occupied France, posing as champagne vendors in order to scout out German military strength. After the men's cover is threatened, the Nazis close in and Raoul is taken. Red and Peter must turn to their contacts in the Resistance, including café owner Nobby Clark (Michael Wilding), to get their information, and hopefully themselves, back to England.
