Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is the third instalment in director Park Chan-wook's "vengeance trilogy", which began with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy. The most intricate and morally complex movie of the three, Lady Vengeance tells the story of Guem-ja (Lee Young Ae), who has just been released from jail after 13 years, having mysteriously confessed to the murder of a child. Having been pregnant at the time of her conviction, her two missions in life are therefore to find her daughter, who has been adopted away to Australia, and to wreak revenge upon the mysterious Mr. Baek (Choi Min-sik) whose crime she was forced to confess to.
