"Ten Canoes" is a 2006 Australian drama film directed by Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr. Set in a remote aboriginal community in Australia's Northern Territory, the film explores the lives of the indigenous people and their traditions. The story follows the adventures of a young man named Dayindi (Jamie Gulpilil) who is selected to learn the secrets of his people from the elder Minygululu (Peter Minygululu). The film is unique in that it was shot entirely in the Yolngu language and features an all-indigenous cast. It was well received by critics and won several awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
