A stylish, action-packed reimagining of classic literary heroes, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen assembles a team of legendary figures—including Allan Quatermain (Sean Connery), Captain Nemo (Naseeruddin Shah), the Invisible Man, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Mina Harker, and Dorian Gray—to thwart a mysterious villain known as "The Fantom." Tasked with stopping a world-threatening conspiracy, the group must navigate betrayal, supernatural dangers, and their own clashing egos. Loosely based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel, the film delivers steampunk-inspired visuals, globe-trotting adventure, and larger-than-life characters. Though it faced criticism for straying from its source material, it remains an entertaining, pulpy action spectacle—and notably, Connery’s final live-action film before retirement.
