Tom Thompson learns from enigmatic Ruth Abernathy that “Bill,” supposedly his closest friend, has died by suicide—despite Tom and his friends having no memory of him. After agreeing to speak at the funeral, Tom becomes entangled with Ruth and reunited with Julie DeMarco, his adolescent crush.
